Working out is my therapy. It clears the head and tones the body. However, mornings are not my thing. I have tried so many times to pry myself out of bed when that alarm goes off and haven’t had the will power to do it – even when it meant losing $30 for missing my Barry’s Bootcamp class. So, my challenge this week was to overcome my morning laziness and GO TRY IT – “it” being a morning run on the Hudson 4 days this week…how did it go? Find out below! (did we forget to mention we’re poets, too?)
THE CHALLENGE: Do 4 morning workouts this week
THE GOODS:
- 6:45 Alarm (DO NOT SNOOZE, YOU WILL NOT GET UP, I PROMISE)
- Sneaks: Nike at Lady Foot Locker (I am SO into my black sneaks because I feel like a Kardashian).
- Keys: You do need to return home
- Phone: For music
- Headphones: For listening to the music
- Water: Optional – these days, I’m into going sans bottle and just coming home to chug some ice-cold agua with a squeeze of Lemon Juice (my obsession)
ERROR MADE:
- Monday: I was in the Hampton’s all weekend and did not make it out of bed
- Tuesday: Success
- Wednesday: Success
- Thursday: Success (had multiple Mojitos the night before BUT still hit the road!)
- Friday: Success
THE PIVOT:
- Once I got to the West Side Highway I realized one major thing: my motivation to get myself going at 7am is just not there. I jogged, speed walked and did arms and abs but next week will be different thanks to…
- Circuit of Change: $35 for unlimited class for a week right on the Hudson (you know those people in organized classes always working out harder than you? Next week I will be one of them!)
SUCCESS STORY:
- Managed to wake up 4 days this week to workout at 6:45!
- Came home with time to watch The Today Show (go Savannah!)
- Made my lunch
- Arrived at work early and was wide awake
- Drank a ton of water all day
- Slept like a gem at night
