Today’s Friday Focus is Sanne from The Netherlands. We are fascinated with Sanne because of her unique relationship with fashion. This model and actress is as in touch with fashion as she is with her horses, growing up in a farmer village with little exposure to shopping. So how does she look the part at all times? Read to find out her method of looking like a chic and glittery cowgirl and the tips she takes from her mum…

GO TRY IT ON: Where are you from and what is your favorite part about fashion in the city you live in?

SANNE: I am from Holland, living in a little farmer village which is far from fashion in every way. The common dress is timeless and classic. However, I visit St. Tropez often which is where I bulk up my wardrobe.

GO TRY IT ON: How would you describe your style?

SANNE: My style…God, I change it every morning! It is all about my mood. If I feel good, I’ll go to school in a black glitter dress and high heels and if I’m in a bad mood, I’ll go for a sweater, skinny jeans and Uggs. But if I had to describe it, I’d say my style is chic, glitter, cowgirl. 

GO TRY IT ON: Have you picked up any tips on international fashion by seeing the looks on GO TRY IT ON? 

SANNE: Yes! I get really excited when I see someone with a great outfit and always try to find a similar thing in my closet.

GO TRY IT ON: You  are a model and actress (according to your GO TRY IT ON profile.) Does your style in real life reflect what you wear when working? 

SANNE: In a musical this year, I played the Daltons from Louis Lemaire, an old western story and I loved all the dresses and cowboy looks. Sometimes I’ll use small details in my outfit from the play. When it comes to modeling, I always love the outfit and try to give it my own touch. I think the most important part of my style is that I don’t care what other people think.  

GO TRY IT ON: What tips have you learned about style and beauty through makeup artists you’ve worked with?

SANNE: I get so many tips but the best one is from my mum who is also an actress and model. Here are a few tips to share:

• With Makeup, go all out with EITHER lips or eyes…not both!
• When you apply eyeliner, try to do it between your lashes or really close to the lid but never “in the eye”
• Plan a night with all your fashionable friends where you all bring some favorite pieces and SWAP! It’s a cheap way to have a whole new wardrobe.

GO TRY IT ON: You have great eyebrows! How do you keep them so full but no too bushy?

SANNE: Every since a young age, my mum said, “don’t let anyone touch them!” Because of that, I only epilate (remove) a bit in the middle. Natural beauty is the most beautiful, leave them!

GO TRY IT ON: What is the most daring fashion risk you’ve taken and when was it? How did you overcome it?

SANNE: The colored skinny jean. When I saw it on the catwalk I thought, “wow.” I bought them but honestly tried to mix and match it 1000 times. Now, I’ve worn them 7 times. I feel cool and look fashionable but still feel a little insecure in them and am not sure why.

GO TRY IT ON: Tell us a bit about your fashion history. When did you become interested in what you wore?

SANNE: Since I was 2 years old, I was very dramatic about my outfits. My mum tried to mix outfits before I went to bed and then it would take an hour for me to style them. However in the morning, I’d always want something totally different. 

GO TRY IT ON: What inspires you? Where do you get your fashion inspiration?

SANNE: Everywhere. What is around me, the nature, other outfits, magazines and GO TRY IT ON of course.

GO TRY IT ON: If you could adopt the fashion of any other city, where would it be?

SANNE: Paris! I went last summer and the designers and vintage clothes around me were the best i’ve ever seen.

GO TRY IT ON: Name one model or actress whose style you admire?

SANNE: Lilly Allen, Kate Moss, Cameron Diaz and of course, high fashion. 

GO TRY IT ON: You have great hair! How do you style it when it’s curly and straight?

SANNE: Thank you! I have to thank my dad for this hair. It’s my favorite part about me. I brush it with a typical Dutch conditioner ”andrelon” when it is wet. Then I let it air dry and will put it on a brad or straighten it!
